At the forefront of innovation, Balaram Cements Limited is proud to be a pioneer of LC3 (Limestone Calcined Clay Cement) production in India. LC3 is an advanced, next-generation cement developed using a blend of limestone and calcined clay, offering a transformative solution to one of the cement industry’s greatest challenges—carbon emissions. LC3 can reduce COâ‚‚ emissions by up to 40%, while being cost-effective, utilizing abundantly available limestone and low-grade clays, and requiring no capital-intensive modifications to existing cement plants.

Our LC3 initiative is backed by in-house research and development conducted over several years, in collaboration with leading institutions including TARA (Development Alternatives), New Delhi, and JK Lakshmi Cement. Through extensive research, testing, and production trials, we are actively working to make LC3 a standard, mainstream, general-use cement for the Indian and global markets. Our research efforts focus not only on cement chemistry and performance, but also on scalability, environmental sustainability, and cost efficiency.

The global LC3 movement—supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) under its Global Programme on Climate Change—has successfully translated LC3 technology from laboratory research in Switzerland to real-world applications across the world. Founder & Managing Director
Founded in 1985 by Shri Sukhdev K. Gadhvi, the company reflects the vision of a first-generation entrepreneur with deep technical expertise and a strong belief in India’s industrial growth. An M.Tech graduate from IIT Bombay, he has held senior executive roles at ITC and the Dalmia Group, bringing decades of experience in large-scale industrial operations.

His technical leadership guided the company from concept to commissioning, overcoming complex challenges with a focus on quality, innovation, and long-term value creation. Under his direction, the company continues to advance toward sustainable solutions, including green cement innovations such as LC3.
